Love's Pure Light

Cultivating healthy emotions in motion!  This loves greatest lotion potion... oh it is time to show some!

There once was an incredibly radically bold woman who was confident, beautiful and strong in herself. She knew who she was and did not care what other people thought of her. She was fully devoted in her God given identity. When she put her heart to something, she completed it.

This one day she heard that the King of the universe was going to be in her town for dinner, there was a rumor going around that this may be a last time she could have the chance to see him. Not wasting any time , she knew in her heart she just had to see this Royal King and do something extravagant for him, she wanted to do something for him he would never forget. This King was actually a man who had raised her very own brother from the dead, he was a man of miracles. She knew she was going to radically touch this King’s heart no matter what it took, her emotions compelled her to display the worlds most extravagant gesture of Love. Till this very day in age,  our world hears about,  we meditate on what her  emotions and actions towards this King  displayed. This is something we will never forget.

When the King was finally in her town this one day, having dinner with a poor man with a lethal skin disease,  she, on a passionate pursuit saw that she got to the King no matter which way she had to. She waited for the perfect moment to , get close to him the King and honor him. Just as the King was reclining his head back at dinner she poured out the worlds most expensive bottle of Chanel perfume on his head . ( and and then robed him with a Loves pure light prayer mantle `for I have loved you with an everlasting love`) The King simply reclined his head back and received this rich refreshment of love and honor. The men at the table dropped their jaws in absolute awe.

Now everyone at the dinner table had just experienced what this woman had done for the king in making such a radical scene with pouring the perfume ( and adorning him in a colorful silk shawl with radiant promises of love inscribed on it. )As if this was some form of entertainment for them, they began to murmur about the ridiculousness of her actions and what a waste of money and a fool she was to pour out that entire bottle of Chanel perfume on him. That the perfume she poured out on the kings head was vintage and would have been worth over two million dollars. The finances she wasted would of been well over a years  worth of wages. They could not believe what just happened.  Was this some kind of a joke? Are we in a dream? The money this woman just wasted could have been saved and sold to help children in poverty or give someone a new home? Aware of this, The King said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body, (and wrapped me with this loves pure light silk scarf) she did it to prepare me for burial I tell you the truth, wherever this good news is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her"

This is part one of a few part blog I am working on.  I want to simply look at emotionalism in this certain account.  We all have emotions and have emotional attachments. Healthy and non-healthy.  My goal of this blog is to share about healthy emotions . It is good to healthy to have extreme emotionalism but in a positive and very healthy way if it is directed back to the greatest love source in how we express ourselves to him.  This is now a world changing story because of this healthy and pure expression of love shown to the King.   The King is Jesus. The Woman is Mary. ( I revamped it up a bit from Matthew 26 in the bible)

What was it about this woman that was so emotionally attached do to such a radical gesture and labor of love to this King in her town?  Compared to our time, If it was Leonardo DiCaprio or Kate Middleton and William coming to your house and you have the chance to see them personally and thank them. How would you respond to a once in a lifetime opportunity to bless them so that they would never forget you? How would you express such an act of gratitude with perhaps not knowing  that not everyone is going to agree with your action, but your emotions and feelings towards that person are so strong. You just need to release your heart in extreme gesture of love.

People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships. They can keep problems in perspective. Definition of an emotion ( Wikipedia) is, in everyday speech, a person's state of feeling in the sense of an affect. Emotion is often intertwined with mood, temperament, personality, disposition, and motivation.

it is ok to express your emotions. Hey! hmm oh woah!

it is ok to express your emotions. Hey! hmm oh woah!

Marys extreme emotions that compelled her to do such for Jesus when she anointed his head with perfume. She was emotionally attached to the King and she let nothing stop her. Not even the costs or value system of what she poured on his head.  When you love someone, you will do anything for them. You are emotionally attached to that person and there is a drive in you.  E- Motion means there is an energy of motion that directs and leads you.  You won’t feel accomplished until the drive to reach the goal is final and you have fully released the expression about to launch inside of you.   If your parents are visiting and you have not seen them for years, I am sure you would quicken up yourself, I’m sure your emotions probably react in a good (i hope not bad ) way   but most importantly I am sure you will get ready for them to arrive showering them with gifts and preparing the atmosphere to create new memories they will never forget!

For me when I am emotionally attached to something all that I dream to do is create a wonderful meal for them!  That is my love language! I love to cook and spend days and hours dreaming to make the most delightful meal for the ones I love.   My emotions are so stimulated to create and manifest something that will really touch this person’s soft spot for favorites and treats they will never forget! I will spend hours in the kitchen and run around to all of my fine food shops just to get all of the perfect treasures I need for this meal! I know food is one of our biggest emotional attachments. So I always try to find and create new tastes and flavors that will stimulate new emotions about tastes towards each dish.  I will try to include as many people in the experience of preparation as possible, this also is something that helps fuel my emotions and energy when I can share the process with others!  And also stop along the way to taste with!

For Mary and what she did for Jesus : I would like to ask a follow-up question: Why is this story so important that it will be told wherever the gospel message goes? The woman had done a nice favor for Jesus, and it was appropriate for Jesus to thank her in a nice way. But surely this does not mean that the disciples- the men at the dinner , no matter where they went in the world, would have to tell this story everywhere they told the gospel? If the disciples were running short of time, couldn’t they just preach the gospel and skip this particular story? No, said Jesus. Wherever the gospel is preached, this story must be told, too. It is practically as important as the gospel itself!

Now… Think about this. Jesus made room for this account of what Marys expression of love did with the perfume, just as important to the gospel to highlight that our emotions motivate us and should motivate us in the things we do for him. Things that he will never forget, the world might also never forget. That should inspire others to be radical in emotions and love back to him. Love does not just have to look like something, but Love has to feel like something! Being in tune with how you feel is so valuable, expressing how you feel to someone is even more valuable.  Of course you know not everyone is going to agree with our actions, but as long as it pleases and blesses the King that is ok and I think the king is pleased when we can express our emotions in a healthy way. We will always have to face adversity as Mary did. I think this is pretty awesome. This woman has raised a very rich standard for us to follow despite the adversary.   This is a point in this blog. We will always face adversary, but that should never stop us.

Many people today are concerned with right beliefs. Right beliefs are good. We need them. Many people today are concerned with right behavior. Right behavior is good. We need it — but we need something else, too, and that is something that Mary demonstrates for us. Mary shows us right emotion, right feeling. The heart we need for God is an intensely personal devotion, a powerful dedication of ourselves to his service.

This intensity of emotion is unusual, and like most unusual things, this was criticized. This kind of devotion was not within the ordinary range of acceptable behavior. People would call Mary eccentric, maybe even out of her right mind. Society says, don’t get carried away with your emotions. Mary did. Her society criticized her, but Jesus praised her. Society says, Moderation in all things. Mary was not moderate. Her society criticized her, but Jesus praised her. The jury of 12 men said this is wrong, but Jesus said, she is better than you all.

So till this day the disciples were inspired to write the stories of what Jesus did, they also wrote the story of what this woman did.   You will always remember that one woman who showed up at dinner and splashed an entire bottle of Chanel perfume on the guest of honor, The King of the Universe.  This expression of radical emotions to Jesus,  It is said that women tend to be more emotional, but you know she did for us is she showed as a blueprint of what we can follow, reckless emotional abandonment of luxurious gestures of Loves Pure Light.

If something is brewing or burning in you a feeling you just cant contain. I encourage you to express it. Don't keep shoving down or hiding your emotions behind a screen. But remember Love has to feel like something, not just look like something ( that's too easy these days)  Jesus wants expression from our hearts to him, not just our hands. You have it in you. You have that rich bottle of perfume brewing and bubbling inside of you just waiting to be poured out in a righteous emotion back to God! It is always healthy to talk to someone about your feelings, but I encourage you to always root your feelings back the root source : Jesus , Loves Pure Light.

Did you know when you stay at The Four Seasons hotels around the world they want to know all of the neat details of what kind of pillow you like and even the flavor of soap you prefer. They have you registered in the computer so no matter where you are in the world they ensure  before you even check in you will always have the right pillow to rest your head! Emotional needs sometimes need surprises of really awesome gestures of love!

What this woman did is an essential part of the story of Jesus, This is on an equal level with the teachings and miracles of Jesus.

I pray this blog opens up a horizon for you to think about your emotions and to be ok with them.  How does this story give you revelation in how you deal and express your emotions in a healthy or non healthy way?  My generation needs to know how to be ok with our emotions and use them in a healthy way. Being radiacally ok with an emotional drive is OK!   On the flip side,   Perhaps you may even feel like Jesus ,  in a position of a King and need to be that guest of honor and splashed with perfume. I pray that if that's you then your emotional needs will be touched and that God would send the Mary to you to remind you just how much your life is saturated in heavens scent.  He can do that too you know!   Mary had an intense affection and devotion for Jesus, the King. We can see it when she sat at Jesus’ feet listening to him teach. She was a contemplative person who liked to think. Here, she is an expressive person — expressive not in words but in actions. Her quiet nature did not prevent her from making a powerful statement — more powerful than words could have possibly done. Actions always speak louder then words.

I hope and pray it gives you something to reflect on and make healthy changes with the passions and drives hidden in your heart.   I pray that even you would take the time to open your bible and read this account. The worlds greatest Love Story ever : The Bible Matthew 26: 6-10

Jesus Anointed at Bethany

6 While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.

8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. 9 “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.”

10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you,[a] but you will not always have me. 12 When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
